![]() ![]() Most offices typically have 2 to 5 legislative assistants who’s job is to understand specific legislation (who supports it, who doesn’t, etc.). ![]() Finally she is the go between for the senior staff and the more junior staff. She typically works with the member to decide what bills she should support and why. Her job is to work with all of the legislative assistants by directing their research and assigning bills to understand more throughly. ![]() Her job is to oversee the functions of the office such as staffing decisions and assisting the member in making her decision on votes. She’s the one who has to give approval for everything and is the final say on communications, policy, and ultimately the vote on bills. With all that being said, everyone should vote in every election! You have a voice! Do your research and cast your vote! Because elections are so frequent, the feeling is generally “meh, I don’t have to vote this person won’t be in very long”. The House is completely re-elected every two years as compared to four for the presidency, and six for senators. President, Governor, and Senator, rather than the House of Representatives, which in turn gives the race more attention and makes the race more “interesting”. Like I mentioned above, because the stakes are higher, the media tends to focus more on the “higher profile” races ie. The attention the media gives to various elections. There’s a lot more at stake when the person elected is 1/1 in her office as compared to 1/435.
